This is what I did, but it's wrong:

The answer is:
x/(sqr(9-x^2))
I kind of know the process but I'm obviously doing something wrong, what is it? :/

Every time you write something, ask yourself: "Does this make sense?" before you go on to the next step.

I see you have your right triangle labeled with on the hypotenuse and on one of the legs. Here is a good place to ask yourself if what you wrote makes sense.

Start with the fact that the longest side of any right triangle is the hypotenuse. Now consider the fact that the value of is in the interval , which means that the value of where is in the interval . Consequently, with the way you labeled your triangle, the largest your hypotenuse can be is 3, when indeed for a triangle to exist it must be larger than 3. So no, what you wrote doesn't make sense.

Then you assert:

Does this make sense? Let's choose so that

So, according to your assertion:

You can do your own arithmetic to convince yourself that this is an absurd claim.

Re-do your problem fixing the two problems I have pointed out and see if you don't get a better result. Let me know how it went.

John

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
