Question 950095: Refer to the graph of y = tan x to find the exact values of x in the interval (−π/2, 3π/2) that satisfy the equation.
tan x = −3^(1/2)
I believe it should be 2pi/3 and 5pi/3. Am I on the right track?

Answer by brysca(112)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 (Graph of the two equations with the correct domain)

Not quite. Remember that the questions asks for the interval of (−π/2, 3π/2).
2π/3 is in the domain but 5π/3 is out of the domain, since it is greater than 3π/2.
-π/3 is within the domain and tan(-π/3)= -√3, so your answers should be:
x=2π/3, -π/3
hope this helps!
