Question 879281: I'm a little lost, I don't know how to approach this problem. It says,
Find the acute angle theta that satisfies the equation tan theta = cot(theta + 45degrees)

Answer by lwsshak3(11628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the acute angle theta that satisfies the equation tan theta = cot(theta + 45degrees)
cot(x+45)

solve for tan(x) by quadratic formula:

a=1, b=2, c=-1
ans:
tan(x)=-2.4142 (reject, not an acute angle)
or
tan(x)=0.4142
x≈22.5˚
