what are the solutions of the equation
tan^2X+4tanX+2=0 on the interval [0, 360 degrees)
tan^2X+4tanX+2=0
solve for tanx by quadratic formula:
a=1, b=4, c=2
tanx==(-4±2√2)2=-2±√2=-3.414,-0.585
tanx≈-3.414
x≈106.32˚, 286.32˚
or
tanx≈-0.585
x≈149.67˚, 329.67˚
