Question 857575: Find 2U - 3V given the vectors U = <3,-1> and V = <4,-2>
Answer by AnlytcPhil(1806)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2U - 3V given the vectors U = <3,-1> and U = <4,-2>
Just substitute the vectors for the letters:

2U - 3V

Consider it as an addition:

2U + (-V)

2<3,-1> + (-3<4,-2>)

Multiply the two components for the scalars
just like the distibutive principle:

<6,-2> + <-12,6>

Then add the like components:

<-6,4>

Easy!
