Question 855985: if sin theta= -2/5 and tan theta <0 find cos, cot,sec,tan, and csc
Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if sin theta= -2/5 and tan theta <0 find cos, cot,sec,tan, and csc
-----
Since sin is negative and tan is negative, theta is in QIV
where x is positive and y is negative.
-------------------
Since sin = -2/5, y = -2 and r = 5
Then x = sqrt[25-4] = sqrt(21)
-----
sin = -2/5
cos = x/r = sqrt(21)/5
tan = y/x = -2/sqrt(21)
--------------
csc = -5/2
sec = 5/sqrt(21)
cot = -sqrt(21)/2
