An airplane takes off at a 10 degree angle and travels at the rate of 250 ft./sec. Approximately how long does it take the airplane to reach an altitude of 15,000 feet?
***
Draw a right triangle with hypotenuse=250(ft/sec) and side opposite 10˚angle=h(rate of climb of airplane)
sin 10˚=h/250
h=250*sin10˚=43.4 ft/sec
travel time=distance/rate=15000/43.4≈346
Approximately how long does it take the airplane to reach an altitude of 15,000 feet?346 sec
