Question 832032: A pendulum in a grandfather clock is 8 feet long and swings back and forth along a 9-inch arc. Approximate the angle (in degrees) through which the pendulum passes during one swing. (Round your answer to three decimal places.)
Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since the pendulum is 8 ft, the diameter of the circle is 16 ft.
To get the circumference in inches.
C = 603.2
9/C gives us the fraction of the circle represented by 9 inches.
percent = 9/603.2 = 0.01492
percent * 360 degrees is what we want.
0.01492 * 360 = 5.371 degrees
