Question 812336: SIN A =-2/7 AND A IS LIE ON QUADRANT III..
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF TAN A???

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
SIN A =-2/7 AND A IS LIE ON QUADRANT III..
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF TAN A???
-----
Note: In QIII, x is negative and y is negative
-----------
Since sin = y/r, y = -2 and r = 7
So, x = -sqrt[7^2-2^2] = -sqrt(45) = -(3)sqrt(5)
-----
Your Problem:
tan = y/x
So tan(A) = [-2]/[-(3)sqrt(5)] = (2/3)sqrt(5)/5 = (2/15)sqrt(5)
