Why? cot is not an angle.

I'll assume you meant cot(x) = -37
Then tan(x) = -1/37
---
Then x = arctan(-1/37) = -0.0270 radians

So, sin(theta) = -0.027
And, cos(theta) = 0.9996

Finally:: sin(2 theta) = 2sin(th)cos(th)=2*-0.027*0.9996 = -0.0540
