Question 795495: It a general solution: 3cos squard x-1=5sinx
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3cos^2x - 1 = 5sinx
Convert cos^2x = 1 - sin^2x
3(1 - sin^2x) - 1 = 5sinx
3 - 3sin^2x - 1 = 5cosx
2 - 5sinx - 3sin^2x = 0
(2 + sinx)(1 - 3sinx) = 0
2 + sinx = 0
sinx = -2 (no answer)
1 - 3sinx = 0
sinx = 1/3
x = 19.5 degrees,160.5 degrees
x = 0.34 radians, 2.8 radians.
Hope this helps.
