a. Suppose you use 24 central angles to divide a circle into 24 equal archs. Express the measure of the angles in radians.
b. The radius of the equator is 3960 mi. About how wide is each time zone at the equator.
c. The radius of the Arctic Circle is about 1580 mi. About how wide is each time zone at the artic circle?

The 24 lines of longitude that approximate the 24 standard time zones are equally spaced around the equator.
a. Suppose you use 24 central angles to divide a circle into 24 equal archs. Express the measure of the angles in radians.
Circumference comprises 2(pi) radians
Each central angle will be [2(pi)]/24= pi/12 radians

b. The radius of the equator is 3960 mi. About how wide is each time zone at the equator.
Each is [pi/12][3960]= 1036.73 miles

c. The radius of the Arctic Circle is about 1580 mi. About how wide is each time zone at the artic circle?
Each is [pi/12][1580]=413.64 miles
