Question 783178: Give the sine (SIN), cosecant (CSC) and cotangent (COT) of angle theta (in a right angle) using the following data:
Hypotenuse = 8
Cosine (side adjacent to angle theta)= 7
The answer can NOT be in decimal form.
When I worked it out I got decimal answers. I need to convert them to non-decimal. Perhaps the answers should be in square root form:
sine = 3.8736/8 = 0.4842
cosecant 8/3.8736 = 2.06526
cotangent 7/3.8736 = 1.807104

Give the sine (SIN), cosecant (CSC) and cotangent (COT) of angle theta (in a right angle) using the following data:
Hypotenuse = 8
Cosine (side adjacent to angle theta)= 7 ********** cos can't = 7 ***
-----------
If the side adjacent = 7, then
cos = 7/8
----------
sin = sqrt(1 - cos^2) = sqrt(1 - 49/64)
sin = sqrt(15/64) = sqrt(15)/8
---------
tan = sin/cos = sqrt(15)/7
------
cot = 1/tan
sec = 1/cos
csc = 1/sin

Give the sine (SIN), cosecant (CSC) and cotangent (COT) of angle theta (in a right angle) using the following data:
Hypotenuse = 8
side adjacent to angle theta = 7
------
3rd side = sqrt[8^2-7^2) = sqrt(15)
========
cos(theta) = sqrt(15)/8
sin(theta) = 7/8
cot(theta) = cos/sin = 7/sqrt(15) = (7/15)sqrt(15)
