Question 780323:
1. Given: y=x^2-6x+7
Find: h and k
2. Given: 3y=(x-2)^2-6
Find: a,b, and c
3. If the simplest quadratic function is f(x)=x^2, what is a,b, and c equal to?
4. Add a constant to make a^2+a+... a perfect square

Answer by oscargut(2103)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. Given: y=x^2-6x+7
Find: h and k
x^2-6x+7 = (x-3)^2-2 = 1(x-h)^2+k
Then h = 3 and k = -2
2. Given: 3y=(x-2)^2-6
Find: a,b, and c
3y=(x-2)^2-6
3y = x^2 -4x-2
y = (1/3)x^2-(4/3)x-2/3
Then a = 1/3, b = -4/3 and c = -2/3
3. If the simplest quadratic function is f(x)=x^2, what is a,b, and c equal to?
a = 1 , b = 0 and c = 0
4. Add a constant to make a^2+a+... a perfect square
Constant = 1/4 because a^2+a+1/4 = (a+1/2)^2
