Question 761939: Two radar installations R and S are 75 miles apart, and S is due east of R. An aircraft modification center is located at point T due north of R. The bearing of ST is N 44 degrees 10 minutes W. Find the distance from R to T.
Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Right angled triangle.
RT is vertical piece (To find)
RS is horizontal base (75 miles)
Angle TSR = 44 degrees 10 minutes = 44.1667
Tan = Opposite/Adjacent
Tan 44.1667 = RT/75 miles
tan 44.16666 * 75 = RT
RT = 72.9 miles.
Hope this helps.
