Question 753482: solve for all values of theta in the interval 0 less than or equal to theta less than or equal to 360
2cos^2(theta)+sin(theta)-1=0

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve for all values of theta in the interval 0 less than or equal to theta less than or equal to 360
2cos^2(theta)+sin(theta)-1=0
-----
2(1-sin^2) + sin -1 = 0
------
2 -2sin^2 + sin -1 = 0
----
Rearrange:
2sin^2 - sin -1 = 0
Factor:
(2sin+1)(sin-1) = 0
sin(x) = -1/2 or sin(x) = 1
-----
x = 300 or 240 or 90 degrees
