Question 731067: How do I graph y=2sin(4x)? Can you please do it step by step and show me where ALL the numbers come from. I don't understand where the (x,y) numbers are coming from to plot the points on the graph.
I got the amplitude of 2 and then I found the period 2pi/4 and got the period as pi/2. From there I took the period and got pi/8, pi/4, 3pi/8, and pi/2 for the numbers along the x axis and the 2, 1, 0, -1, and -2 for the y axis. but how do I find the points to plot them on my graph?

Answer by lwsshak3(11628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
graph y=2sin(4x)
equation for sin function: y=Asin(Bx-C), A=amplitude, Period=2π/B, Phase shift=C/B
For given equation: y=2sin(4x)
Amplitude=2
B=4
Period=2π/B=2π/4=π/2
1/4 period=π/8
C=0
Phase shift: none
..
Graphing:
coordinates for one period:
(0,0), (π/8,2), (π/4,0), (3π/8,-2), (π/2,0)
Note: you did everything right except you need to read the scale of the x-axis in radians.
For example, π/8≈0.3926...radians, 3π/8≈1.1780...radians, etc.
