Question 715401: I have been asked to find what the equation is for a cos curve. However I am to use information from a table to do this. So there is no graph visible. I have found the amplitude, period, and b, but I do not know how to find the phase shift. I don't have c either. Please help!

If you really have the amplitude, then you must know where the maximums and minimums are. From this we can find the vertical and phase shifts.

To find the vertical shift, c, just average the maximum and minimum y values.

To find a phase shift, just determine how far to the right (or left) of the y-axis a maximum (any maximum) occurs (because cos cycles start at the maximum).
