Question 698630: A.) Write a quadratic function in vertex form whose minimum value is 8.
B.) Write a quadratic function that transforms the graph of your function from part a so that it is shifted horizontally. Explain the change you made and describe the transformation that results from the change.
Thanks!!!!!!!
Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A.) Write a quadratic function in vertex form whose minimum value is 8.
y=x^2 is a parabola that opens upwards and the vertex is at the origin.
to translate that to 8:
y=x^2 + 8
.
B.) Write a quadratic function that transforms the graph of your function from part a so that it is shifted horizontally. Explain the change you made and describe the transformation that results from the change.
To shift the above quadratic to the left 2 units:
y=(x+2)^2 + 8
