Question 644015: how do you understand if you have to simplify the given ratios , for example :[(1+tan^2A)=sec^2A]
or break them down, example :
[(1+tan^2A)=1+(sin^2A/cos^2A) ????????????

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
simplify the given ratios , for example :
(1+tan^2A) = sec^2A
Note: A simpler form always depends on the observer.
Your equation is true because it is one of the Pythagorean
relations for trig functions.
---
It might be "simplified" as follows:
Multiply thru by cos^2(A) and you get:
cos^2(A) + sin^2(A) = 1
Note: This also is a Pythagorean relation for trig functions.
----
Is it simpler? That depends on what you know about trig relations.
-----
It simplifies further to 1 = 1
---
That definately is "simpler".
