Test for symmetry with respect to the axes.
2y=(x^2)+5
rewrite, divide both sides by 2
y=(1/2)x^2+5/2
This is an equation of a parabola of standard form: y=A(x-h)^2+k, (h,k) being the (x,y) coordinates of the vertex. A is a multiplier which affects the slope or steepness of the curve.
For given equation: y=(1/2)x^2+5/2
Vertex: (0,5/2)
Axis of symmetry: x=0, or y-axis (parabola opens upwards)
symmetrical with respect to the y-axis
