Question 499353: Two sides of a triangle have lengths of 3 cm and 7 cm and meet at an angle of 60 degree. Find the area of the triangle
Answer by chessace(471)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Drop a perpendicular from the far "3" end to the "7".
It will be 1.5 cm from the joint due to sin(30) = 0.5
By Pythag, height will be 3 * sqrt(2)/2
So area = 0.5 * 7 * 3 * sqrt(2) / 2
= 21 sqrt(2) / 4
= 7.42462 cm^2
