Question 464330: Graph of f(x) = 1/2 cos (x/2)
Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Graph of f(x) = 1/2 cos (x/2)
...
Standard form of cosine function: y=Acos(Bx-C), A=amplitude, Period 2π/B, Phase-shift=C/B
For given cosine function:
Amplitude=1/2
B=1/2
Period=2π/B=2π/(1/2)=4π
1/4 period=4π/4=π
Phase-shift=0
Graphing: Assume for one period
On the x-axis make tick marks at 0, π, 2π, 3π and 4π
y at these x-values=1/2, 0, -1/2, 0, 1/2 respectively
You now have these points to plot the graph: (0,1/2), (π,0), (2π,-1/2), (3π,0), (4π,1/2)
