Question 409578: I need to establish the identity, and show and prove how:
(1+sin theta)/(1-sin theta)-(1-sin theta)/(1+sin theta)= 4 tan theta sec theta
I need the step by step breakdown of how we got the answer on the left side to equal the answer on the right side.
Thank you,
Chris B.
Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1+sin theta)/(1-sin theta)-(1-sin theta)/(1+sin theta)= 4 tan theta sec theta
..
(1+sin)/(1-sin)-(1-sin)/(1+sin)=4tan sec
starting with left-hand side,
[(1+sin)^2-(1-sin)^2]/(1+sin)(1-sin)
=[1+2sin+sin^2-(1-2sin+sin^2)]/1-sin^2
=[1+2sin+sin^2-1+2sin-sin^2)]/1-sin^2
=4sin/cos^2
=(4sin/cos)(1/cos)
=4tan sec
ans:
Left-hand side=Right-hand side
