Question 378096: I need to find the 6 trigonometric functions for this problem. The hypotenuse 16 an the adjacent is 12. I need the Cosine, Sine, Tangent, Secant, Cosecant, and Cotangent???
Answer by nyc_function(2741) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use the Pythagorean Theorem from geometry to find the other leg of the right triangle.
(leg)^2 + (given leg)^2 = (hypotenuse)^2
(leg)^2 + (12)^2 = 16^2
(leg)^2 + 144 = 256
(leg)^2 = 256 - 144
(leg)^2 = 112
Take square root of both sides.
sqrt[(leg)^2] = sqrt[112]
leg = sqrt[112]
Let leg = x
Then x = sqrt[112].
Understand?
sinx = sqrt[112]/16
cosx = 12/16
tanx = sqrt[112]/12
cscx = 16/sqrt[112]
secx = 16/12
cotx = 12/sqrt[112]
Done!
