Question 363447: A small business manufactures stickers. Past data indicates that the company's monthly profits from their line of star stickers are a function of the price they charge for a sheet of 100 stars, according to the formula P = 100x - x^2 - 500, where P is the profit IN DOLLARS, and x is the price charged IN CENTS. What price should the company charge to make the maximum profit, and how much profit do they make?
Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P = 100x - x^2 - 500
=-x^2+100x-500
-b/2a=50 Equals x at the maximum.
-50^2+100*50-500=2000 Equals y at the maximum.
.
The company should charge $0.50 and the profit will be $2,000.
