Find the 3rd term to complete the square (-2/2)^2 +1
x^2 - 2x + 1 = + 1; add 1 to both sides
x^2 - 2x + 1 = +
x^2 - 2x + 1 =
Which is:
(x - 1)^2 =
Find the square root of both sides
x - 1 = +/-
Two solutions
x = 1 +
And
x = 1 -
