9) If the roots of a quadratic equation are real, irrational, and unequal, which of the following might be the discriminant of that equation?
(a) -9 (b) 0 (c) 14 (d) 25

If it's -9, they'd be complex, not real, so a is out.
If it's 0, they'd be equal, so b is out.
If it's 25, that's 5 squared, so they'd be integers or rational, so that's out.
That leaves c, 14.
