I will only do number 1.
1. Find the amplitude, if it exists, and the period of: y=cos3theta
I will use the letter "t" for theta.
We have y = cos3t
The amplitude is the absolute value of the number written infront of the trig function.
In this case, the amplitude = |1| = 1
To find the period, we need to see what happens to 3t as it varies between 0 and 2pi. Why between this interval? Because cosine is periodic with 2pi.
0
Divide each term by 3.
0/3
0
To find the period, subtract 0 from 2pi/3
Period = 2pi/3 - 0
period = 2pi/3
Final answer:
amplitude = 1
period = 2pi/3
