Multiply both sides by a common denominator (say 24) to get rid of all denominators.
.
(4x-3)/6 + (x/4) = x-2
24[(4x-3)/6 + (x/4)] = 24[x-2]
4(4x-3) + 6(x) = 24[x-2]
16x - 12 + 6x = 24x - 48
18x - 12 = 24x - 48
- 12 = 6x - 48
36 = 6x
6 = x
