The length of a pendulum is 1 meter. It swings through an angle of 60 degrees. Through what distance does bob swing from one extreme point to another?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the length of the pendulum is 1 meter.
the pendulum swings through an angle of 360 degrees to make the circumference of the circle.
the formula for the circumference of the circles is 2 * pi * r.
when r = 1, the circumference is equal to 2 * pi.
when the pendulum swings through an angle of 60 degrees, then it is swinging through an arc that is 60/360 = 1/6 * the circumference of the circle.
the pendulum therefore swings through an arc of 1/6 * 2 * pi = 2/6 * pi = 1/3 * pi.
your answer is that the pendulum swings through a distance of 1/3 * pi meters from one extreme point to another.
