Question 1181600: A hot air balloon is to be attached to the ground using two support ropes. One support is attached on one side of the balloon at an angle of elevation of 42°. Another support is attached on the other side of the balloon at an angle of elevation of 50°. The distance between the locations the supports are attached on the ground is 40 m.
How long is the rope that is attached at the 42°?
How high is the balloon?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
tan 42 = BG/(40-x)
BG = tan 42*(40-x)
BG = tan 50 *x
tan 42*(40-x) = tan 50*x
0.90*(40-x) = 1.19 x
36-0.90x = 1.19x
36 = (1.19+0.90)x
2.09x = 36
x=17.22
sin 42 = BG /22.78
Find out BG
