Question 1177773: a ball is thrown following a projectile motion. it is known that the horizontal distance (range) the ball can travel is given bt R = vo^2 / 8 sin 2(∅) where r is the range (in feet), vo is the initial speed (in ft/s), ∅ is the angle of elevation the ball is thrown and g =32 ft/s^2 is the acceleration due to gravity
a. express the new range in terms of the original range when an angle ∅ (0<∅<45 degrees) is doubled.
b. If a ball travels a horizontal distance of 20ft when kicked at an angle of α with an initial speed of 20 √(2 ) ft/s, find the horizontal distance it can travel when you double α.
Hint: use result of item (a.)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Your range function is incorrect. Repost with the correct function. Make sure you use parentheses so that it is clear whether factors belong in the numerator or denominator. There is no factor of "8" in the function anywhere, and all of the sin function's argument belongs inside of the parentheses.
