Question 1172081: A tower 125 feet high stands on the side of a hill. At the point 240 feet from the foot of the tower, measured straight down the hill, the tower subtends an angle of 25 degrees. What angle does the side of the hill make with the horizaontal?
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20062)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

You can solve that with a TI-84 calculator, using X for θ:

Put the calculator in degree mode if it isn't already. (Press MODE, highlight DEGREE)
Press Y=
Put (240sin(X)+125)/(240cos(X)) for Y1
Put tan(240+25) for Y2
Press ZOOM 7
Wait till it finishes graphing
Press 2nd trace 5
Press enter 3 times

Read this:

Intersection
X=10.764405      Y=0.7202788

That value for X is the answer in degrees.
