Question 1168959: A ferris wheel with a radius of 7m makes one complete revolution every 16s. The bottom of the wheel is 1.5m above the ground.
Draw a graph to show how a persons height above the ground varies with time for three revolutions starting when the person gets onto the Ferris wheel at its lowest point and find the equation for the graph and predict how the graph and equation would change if the Ferris wheel turns more slowly.

The radius, r = 7, and the height above the ground, h0 = 1.5
The angular displacement of the person on the wheel at a time, t, is given
by A = w*t, where w is the angular frequency
The height above the ground, h, will be given by:
h = h0 + r(1-cos(A)) = h0 + r(1-cos(wt)).
The wheel makes 1 rev per 16s, thus w = 2*pi/16 = pi/8
If the wheel turns slower, the w will be smaller and thus the period will
be longer, since the period, T = 2*pi/w
