Assume the diameter of Earth is approximately 8,000 miles. If angle ACB has measure 1', then the distance between A and B is a nautical mile. Approximate the number of land (statute) miles in a nautical mile. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)

Start calculating the circumference of the Earth, using the given diameter.

Then divide the found circumference by 360 degrees to get the length of a one degree arc.

Then divide it by 60 to get the length of a one angular minute arc.
