A ship leaves port at 1:00 P.M. and sails in the direction N31°W at a rate of 24 mi/hr. Another ship leaves port at 1:30 P.M. and sails in the direction N59°E at a rate of 15 mi/hr. Approximately how far apart (in miles) are the ships at 3:00 P.M.? (Round your answer to the nearest whole number.)
They both are sailing at right angles to each other.
Apply Pythagoras theorem
After 2 hours ship I would be 48 miles from origin
Ship II will be 22.5 miles from origin
At 3 pm they will at a distance of 53 from each other
