Question 1136436: A circular plate is 15 inches in diameter. It is mounted on a motor that spins between 100 and 175 revolutions per minute.
a) find the angular speed for each of the 100 and 175 rev./min.
b) find the linear speed in units of inches per second for each of the 100 and 175 rev./min.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
angular speed at 100 revolutions per minute is 200pi radians/min.; for 175 rpm, it is 350pi radians/min.
linear speed is pi*d=15 pi per revolution.
So at 100 rpm, speed is 200pi radians or 1500 pi inches/minute
Another way is that each revolution in 15pi inches and 100 of them is 1500 pi inches/minute
At 175 rpm, this would be 2625 inches/minute
