Question 1099255: if sin(t) = 1/5 and pi/2 less than equal to t less than equal to pi, determine the following: sin t, cos t, tan t, csc t, sec t, cot t.
Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if sin(t) = 1/5 and pi/2 less than equal to t less than equal to pi, determine the following: sin t, cos t, tan t, csc t, sec t, cot t.
-----------
t is in Q2
-------------
Easiest way to do this:
sin = y/r = 1/5
cos = sqrt(1 -sin^2) = sqrt(24)/5 = 2sqrt(6)/5
cos in Q2 is negative --> -2sqrt(6)/5
---
tan = sin/cos = -1/(2sqrt(6)) = -sqrt(6)/12
===========
cot = 1/tan = -2sqrt(6)
sec = 1/cos = -5sqrt(6)/12
csc = 1/sin = 5
===========================================
Eventually, someone would have made fun of you for using pie instead of pi.
You've avoided the humiliation.
