Question 1081124: You work for an advertising company and have been hired to place a blimp above a football stadium. The angle of elevation from a point directly under the goal post is 72° and the blimp will be directly above the 50 yard line.
a. Which trigonometric ratio would you use to calculate how high the blimp will be above the 50 yard line?
b. How high above the ground is the blimp?
P.S. Your website did have the answer, but I do not think it was right. I want to check my answer.

I am making the assumption that for purposes of this problem, the goal post will be at the 0 yard line (this is not likely true in most stadiums).
We know the distance to the 50 yard line is 50 yards. That is adjacent to the angle. The height is opposite to the angle.
The angle is 72 degrees, and the tangent 72=opposite/adjacent=opposite/50
height is 50 tan 72 or 153.88 yards.
If the goal post were 10 yards back, this would make it higher, since 60 would be used rather than 50.
