Question 1029961: tan^2x=(3/2)secx
(use identities to help simplify into 1 trigonometric function)
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
sin^2 x/cos^2 x=3/(2 cos x)
sin^2x/cos x=3/2
cross multiply
2sin^2 x=3 cos x
2(1-cos^2 x)=3 cos x
2-2cos^2x=3cos x
-2cox^2x-3cos x+2=0
2cos^2x+3cos x-2=0
(2cos x -1)(cos x+2)=0
cos x=1/2,-2, which is not possible
x=pi/3, 5pi/3
tangent^2 (pi/3)=3
sec pi/3=2
(3/2) sec pi/3=3
