Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 (sin x/cos x)+(cos x/sin x)= (sin x*sin x+ cos x*cos x)/cos x* sin x.  The numerator is sin^2x+cos^2x=1
1/(cos x*sin x
=====
The bottom is [1/cos x]
That is 1/(cos x* sin x) which is the numerator. Therefore it equals 1.

 Verify the following identity:
(tan + cot)/(sec*csc) = 1
(tan + cot)*sin*cos = 1
(sin/cos + cos/sin)*sin*cos = 1
sin^2 + cos^2 = 1
