If you want to simplify it:
sec^2 x-1/secx-1
Use parentheses. I think you mean
(sec^2(x)-1)/(sec(x)-1)
= (sec(x)-1)*(sec(x)+1)/(sec(x)-1)
Cancel (sec(x)-1)
= sec(x)+1
