Question 1000094: The rectangular coordinates of a point are given below. Find polar coordinates of the point.
(4,-4√3)
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r = sqrt(x^2+y^2) = sqrt(16+48) = 8
theta = tan^-1 (y/x) = tan^-1(-sqrt(3)) = -60 degrees
so the polar coordinates are
(8, -60 deg) or (8, -pi/3 rad)
