You can put this solution on YOUR website!
from a 100 foot roof of a building on the coast, a tourist sights a ship. the angle of depression is 2.5 degrees. how far is the ship from the shoreline?
i put x/100 = tan 2.5 degress than cross multiplied and got 4.4 feet. id that right?
-------
Assuming the earth is flat, the tan(2.5) = 100/distance
So the distance (in feet) is 100/tan(2.5)
distance = 100/0.04366
= 2290.4 feet
