Question 156850: The hypotenuse of a right triangle is twice as long as one of the legs and 10 inches longer than the other. What are the lengths of the sides of the triangle?
So far I know that i should use the Pythagorean theorem.
I've drawn the triangle and know:
1st Leg: h/2
2nd Leg: h-10
Hypotenuse: h
(h-10)^2 + (h/2)^2 = h^2
4(h^2-20h-100+ (h^2/4))=h^2
4h^2-80h-400+h^2=h^2
5h^2-80h-400=h^2

Question 158298: I have a triangle and the sides are 150 cm 175 cm and 200 cm. I have 25 similar trianles that I need to use to tile the entire area of this triangle. I am supposed to tell the lenghts of the sides of the small triangles used in the tiling and explain how I figured it out. I think that the sides are 6cm 7cm and 8cm each, but I'm not sure how I got that. Am I going in the right direction and if so, how do I explain it.

Question 161764This question is from textbook Geometry
: the measure of one angle of a triangle is 28 more than the smallest angle of the triangle. the measure of the third angle is twice the measure of the smallest angle. what are all 3 angle measures?
1. Before answering this question, you must know that in any triangle, the sum of all three angles is ALWAYS 180 degrees.
2. You must also know and be able to translate math key words to algebraic form
***is =
***#more than +#
***twice 2*
3. SOLUTION:
let angle x= smallest angle
let angle y= x + 28
let angle z=2x
Since
x+(x+28)+(2x)=180 simplify now
4x+28=180
4x+28-28=180-28
4x=152
4x/4=152/4
x=38
smallest angle = 38
angle y=28+x=28+38=66
angle z=2x=2(38)=76
Check 38+66+76=180
