Question 308413: I have a triangle, it is an isoceles (I think i spelled that wrong). I know it is isoceles because it has a base then, the two sides are marked congruent. I have the degree measure of one angle, its 70 degrees. So, i found out the other degree angles are 70, and 30. It gives me the base length, 10. I need to find the area. I know to find the area, I need to find the height. (A= 1/2 bh) That's where I got stuck. How do I do this problem? Thank you.

Question 308612: The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 8 feet less than three times the shorter leg and the longer leg is 8 feet more than twice the shorter leg. Find the lengths of the three sides of the triangle.
I already know the formula, I can't work it out. I don't know how.

Question 308812: 10. Solve for x and y. There are 2 triangles, the one on the left has 25 at the top, 5x in bottom left hand corner. The second triangle has 4y at the top, 100 degrees in left hand corner, and 16 in the right hand corner.
24. A cylindrical storage tank has a diameter of 70 feet and is 95 feet high, how many cubic feet can it store?
32. In the triangle, what is tan B? The hyp is 10, adj side is 4, opposite side 8.
33. If XY=8, find ZY. There's a triangle with 8 on side XY (very left side), the base is X, and the side across the 90 degree angle is blank. There's also a 30 degree angle which is Z.
34. The angle of elevation from a ship to the top of a rocky cliff is 15 degrees. If the ship is 110 meters from the base of the cliff, how high is the cliff?

Question 309694: Regarding a triangle which has a 90 degree angle...is there a simple formula to take a given diagonal dimension (hypotenuse) and a constant vertical / horizontal dimension relationship (16:9), and determine the vertical / horizontal dimensions from a given diagonal dimension. For example, if I use the basic 16 horizontal dimension, and the basic 9 vertical dimension, the hypotenuse will be 18.357...
Hence, working in reverse, what would be the formula I could use to plug in a given hypotenuse (20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 50, 100, etc. and using the non variable 16:9 ratio, come up with the vertical and horizontal dimensions?
I hope I did OK with making my question clear.
Thanks.
