Question 990550: Given that the sides of an equilateral triangle is 4a+6,3b-2a,and 2b+2 respectively find a and b
Answer by Timnewman(323)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since it is an equilateral triangle,
Then,
4a+6=3b-2a
4a+2a-3b=-6
6a-3b=-6-----(1)
Divide throught by 3
2a-b=-2-----(2)
also,
3b-2a=2b+2
3b-2b-2a=2
b-2a=2------(3)
from equ 3
b=2a+2----(4)
put 4 in 2
3a-(2a+2)=-2
3a-2a-2=-2
a=-2+2
a=0
put a=0 in equ 4
b=2(0)-2
b=0-2
b=-2
The value of a and b are 0 and -2 respectively.
