Question 981869: a scalene triangle with side b of (√3 -1) and side c of 5√2 has angle A which is 75 degrees. You are given that sin 75 degrees = √3 +1/2√2. Show that the area of the triangle is 2.5 cm squared.
my working out:1/2absinC
1/2 *5√2*(√3 -1*√3 +1/2√2

Your numeric sine of 75 degrees does not work as a possible sine value. I tried different groupings and the values are wrong.
... a web search just showed this: (sqrt(3)+1)/(2sqrt(2)) which rendered is .

Not sure which side b or c you chose as the base. You might choose side for the base; and then the triangle's height would be as the side c.

The height with these assignments would be , the height.

Putting all this into the area formula,
area is .

Do the arithmetic simplifications and see if you have the result you want/expect.
