Question 969931: If a diagonal is drawn across a football field 150 ft wide and 320 feet long, what size angles will it make with the side lines? end lines? How long is the diagonal?

The diagonal is the hypotenuse.
the legs are 150 ft and 320 ft
their squares are 22500 ft^2 and 102400 ft^2
The sum of those two (Pythagorean theorem) is 124900 ft^2
The sqrt(124900)=353.41 ft
The angle with the sideline is the tangent, and it is (150/320)= 0.46875 The arc tan gives 25.1 degrees
The angle with the end line is the cotangent, but we have two angles , 90 and 25.1, and the third angle is 180 - (115.1) = 64.9 deg
